Landlord & Tenant,
Housing & Property Litigation

The team carrying out this work comprises Graham French, Gusta Glover and Tilly Rubens, partners, and Kathy Thomas, consultant, and Gemma Marrs and Amy Lewis, associate solicitors.

We have an unparalleled reputation in this field and have acted in a number of the leading cases in this area, particularly in relation to homelessness and the rights of private tenants. For details of some of these cases click here.

Whether advising tenants, social or private landlords, residents associations or those who are homeless, we can offer a wealth of experience and expertise. We believe in a robust, but practical, approach to litigation. We can represent and advise both landlords (including residents associations) and tenants in relation to disrepair and repairing obligations, environmental issues, possession and security of tenure. We can advise those who are not housed in relation to both temporary and permanent accommodation, taking proceedings against (and on behalf of) Local Authorities where appropriate. We advise and act for lessees and residents associations/freeholders regarding service charges and other aspects of leasehold law. We represent commercial landlords and tenants in relation to applications for new tenancies and all aspects of business leases. We have expertise in housing, local government powers and finance, and have acted in cases relating to transfer of housing stock, the imposition of covenants on a Local Authority housing estate and policies in relation to rent levels.

Our work for Local Authorities, Housing Associations and Housing Co-Operatives extends to advising on tenancy agreements, constitution and rules.

We hold a community services Quality Mark in Housing Law.
