Recruitment, Vacancies and Training Contracts

Trainees and paralegals:
Normally our trainees are recruited initially as paralegals and, provided we are happy with their performance, they then progress to a training contract. At present we have two trainees and one paralegal.
In 2009 we were nominated for the LawCareers.Net award for Best Trainer – Small Firm.
In 2010 we were nominated for the Best Recruiter – small firm.
In 2011 we won the award Best Recruiter – small firm.
We will have two vacancies for paralegals with a view to a training contract. The first of these will be to commence between June and September 2012. The second will be to commence between September and December 2012. The closing date for applications for these posts is 5.00pm Wednesday 8th February 2012. All applications received to date will be considered and there is no need to re-submit applications already sent.

The qualities we are looking for in prospective trainees (this is not an exhaustive list) include the following:-
- Good academic qualifications. We do not normally consider applicants with less than a 2:1 degree, although we sometimes make exceptions to this rule if other academic qualifications are particularly good (for example commendation or distinction in the LPC, very good A-level results).
- Good understanding of, and approach to, law and procedure.
- Enthusiasm and interest for the areas of law in which the firm specialises.
- Practical experience of the workplace, dealing with a wide cross section of people.
- Experience of working in a legal environment.
- Interests and achievements outside the workplace and the law.
